Python robot programming

Edit readable text code and test program decisions before connecting hardware.

By CYOBot · Updated

Before you start

Basic sequencing and a Python-capable model configured with its official guide.

Use your model's Python guide to connect to its supported coding interface. Available robot APIs depend on the firmware; do not paste commands for another board or assume a desktop Python package is installed on the robot.

Test calculations with ordinary Python first, then adapt only the hardware boundary using documented examples. Keep the original working version so a change can be undone. The public tutorials identify when code is a logic-only example rather than robot firmware.

Try a small experiment

  1. Confirm your model, tool and intended task.
  2. Use the official model instructions to establish a working example.
  3. Change one part and record the observed outcome.
  4. Save the working version and list the next question to investigate.

What to record

Separate a decision function from a hardware-specific input or output.
