C/C++ and ESP32 development
Use the hardware repository as the starting point for firmware-level experiments.

Before you start
Experience with compilation, firmware upload and the board's electrical and recovery instructions.
CYOBot's programming overview includes C/C++ development. The v2 repository identifies an ESP32-S3; the older CYOCrawler is a separate hardware generation. Board selection, libraries and pin mappings must match your actual revision.
Read the repository instructions and licences before modifying firmware. Back up a known working version and establish how to recover the board. Python and Block setup guides are the supported public first steps; this page does not promise a downloadable C++ portal or a universal upload recipe.
Try a small experiment
- Confirm your model, tool and intended task.
- Use the official model instructions to establish a working example.
- Change one part and record the observed outcome.
- Save the working version and list the next question to investigate.
What to record
Identify the correct board revision, build environment and example before making a firmware change.
