Explorer: start learning robotics

Practice simple outputs, sequencing and observation before adding a moving robot.

By CYOBot · Updated

Before you start

No previous coding experience is needed for the logic exercises. A compatible robot is needed to run physical outputs.

Begin with a visible effect such as an emoji display, a digital dice or a countdown timer. These examples let you connect an instruction to an observable result without combining several moving mechanisms.

Use Block if arranging logic visually helps, or Python if you want to read and edit text. Start with the official guide for your model; port names and available components depend on hardware and firmware. The Explorer label describes a suggested progression, not a credential or fixed-duration course.

Try a small experiment

  1. Identify your model and follow its assembly and connection guide.
  2. Run an existing display example before changing it.
  3. Change one value, predict the result, then compare your prediction with what happens.
  4. Record the original code, changed code and observed outcome in a project notebook.

What to record

Explain what your program is meant to do, observe one output, and record a small change.
